Disk as life-saver
An aluminium disk worked into the candle base functions as a candle tray.
BSS candles can be worked into your own flower arrangements without any extra base.
On 06.01.2004, the amended version of the Equipment and Product Safety Act (GPSG - Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz) came into effect.
The revision stipulates that a product is only allowed to be put into circulation if its application according to purpose, or if its foreseeable improper application does not jeopardize the safety and health of the users or of third parties (section 4 (2)). Decorative arrangements which include candles without a non-flammable underlay do not comply with the act’s requirements. The competent authorities may therefore prohibit the sale of those products.
What are the true facts about this?
The wire usually used in these arrangements to attach the decorative items becomes very hot toward the end of the candle’s burning time. This creates small perforations in the candle’s base, allowing the paraffin to leak onto the arrangement. If the burning wick dropped onto the arrangement, a romantic candle light could easily turn into a devastating fire.

How does BSS function?
A thin aluminium disk is added when pressing the BSS candles. This aluminium disk acts as a candle tray when burning is over. The rest of the wick falls onto the disk and the flame is put out. The burning wick cannot drop into the flower arrangement. Even when the fastening wires inserted into the bottom of the candle become hot at the end of the candle's life, there is still the non-combustible aluminium disk between naked flame and flower arrangement.
Display obligation
It's necessary that sellers provide their flower arrangements with appropriate warnings about the fire risk from them together with particulars of the seller.

Never leave a candle burning unattended.
One problem less! Like the aluminum cup for the tealight, the alu disc will become a standard for pillars.
